Protective effects of ginsenoside Rc against acute cold exposure?induced myocardial injury in rats

Abstract Ginsenoside Rc is one of the cardinal bioactive components Panax ginseng. The present study aimed to investigate whether ginsenoside exerted protective effects against acute cold exposure-induced myocardial injury in rats. Forty rats were randomly assigned into four groups: Control, model, 10 mg/kg, and 20 mg/kg groups. Rats intragastrically administrated with (10, mg/kg) or vehicle daily for 7 days. On seventh day, all except control group exposed low temperature. Cardiac function, enzyme activities, hemorheology, inflammatory response detected. Histopathological examination apoptosis cardiac tissues performed. expressions silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1), B-cell lymphoma (Bcl-2), Bcl-2-associated X (Bax), procaspase-3, mRNA (messenger RNA) level SIRT1 measured by western blot real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis. significantly improved diminished activities lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), aspartate aminotransferase, creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB), regulated abnormal hemorheology cold-exposed (p < 0.05 p 0.01). Furthermore, could attenuate histological changes structural abnormalities, decrease apoptotic cells reduce levels activity tumor necrosis factor-? (TNF-?), interleukin-1? (IL-1?), IL-6 In addition, upregulated SIRT1, Bcl-2, procaspase-3 downregulated that Bax both protein expression similar. results current suggested alleviate inhibiting cardiomyocyte via regulating attenuating responses. Practical Application indicated be potentially used as a ingredient processed functional food products supplements prevent from injury.
